Rules and Responsibilities
Artists who wish to participate in the 2008 Open Art Studios event must agree to the Rules and Resonsibilities listed below.
- You must live or make visual art in Dane County.
- You must be willing to open and be present at your studio for the entire weekend.
- Your must prepare your home/studio in a manner that allows the public to have a positive experience.
- One piece per artist will hang at Overture Gallery.
- Each artist must pay the entry fee, even if several artists are exhibiting at one location.
- Artists are responsible for all sales.
- There is no commission from studio sales.
- 2D artwork: perimeter cannot exceed 100" (example: a piece 20" by 30" has a perimeter of 100").
- 3D artwork: The Overture Gallery can accommodate wall-mounted work only. Shelves for 3D work may be attached to the wall; however, no artwork or shelving may project more than 12" from the wall. Circumference is limited to 100". If you have jewelry, please enclose it in a frame with a wire on the back so that it can hang from the wall. Overture allows NO exceptions.
- Artists are strongly urged to send art announcements to family, friends, neighbors, patrons and potential patrons. Maps and postcards will be provided.
- Artists may choose the artwork that will be displayed in the gallery, but Open Studios requests that the artist use discretion, as this is a family event.
- Because Open Studios operates on a small budget, we ask that you consider donating artwork, sculpture or jewelry for our raffle. Raffle tickets will be sold on Gallery Night. All money raised will go to benefit next year's Open Art Studios.
