"hands-on art"

Madison Area Open Art Studios

An annual event celebrating the diversity and vitality of the visual arts in the Madison-area. Many local Madison area artists open their studios to the public for the weekend. Visitors can look at art, talk with artists, and learn about technique and craft, all in an open-house, informal environment.

Visit Art Studios throughout Greater Madison

Special Open Studios Maps will be available, highlighting the location, name and medium of every participating artist. Shortly before the event, the Open Art Studios maps will be available at the Overture Center Gallery. They will also be available at every open art studio location and most area libraries. This will be your chance to traipse through the community and get to "peek behind the curtain" and see how and where the art is made.

Have fun at the Studios

Some artists have their own studios, some create the work at home, and others are part of art collaboratives that work and show together. These spaces are full of color and imagination and are fun to visit and explore. Artists will discuss technique, inspiration and process - and you might even get free refreshments!
